Why worry about Syphilis?
When a person has Syphilis, symptoms often go away on their own, leading the person to believe that it has gone away when it has not.  In fact, the disease is still in the body, causing more damage.  Also, Syphilis sores make it easier to transmit other diseases, such as HIV.

Testing is FREE and easy
Free and easy tests are available throughout the City of Columbus.  Click on the Testing Sites page to find out where you should go for a free, safe, and confidential Syphilis test.  You can also go to your own doctor's office or health center for a test.

Syphilis is curable!
Syphilis can be treated with antibiotics and is completely curable.  If you think you may have been exposed, get tested.  If you don't know how to tell if you have Syphilis, read the facts on this website or ask a healthcare professional.  It's important to be tested and treated early.  If left untreated, Syphilis can cause many problems, ranging from blindness to brain damage.  Get tested for Syphilis and keep you and your partners safe.
